‘No, Nein, Non’ to referendum
Vote yes to stay in Europe, vote no to be shunned and treated like pariahs. There is no doubt about it folks, we are about to be fed loads of verbal diarrhoea by the toxic bucket load from now until the confirmed polling date. There will be no expense spared in trying to scaremonger us into voting for austerity measures that are drawn up by capitalist autocratic junkies to protect their worldwide banking interests.
The Fianna Fáil ard fheis last Saturday proved to be a conundrum for the ditherers and the doubters of the party. Éamon Ó Cuív and a smattering of directionless power trippers in the party were threatening to go to jail over the septic tank issue until they realised that EU directive was issued when they were in power and they did nothing about it, apart from leaving it to gather dust in a broom cupboard.
But now the bould Éamon de Valera rediscovered his independence by kicking up a fuss, and was shown the door by party leader Micheal Martin before he even got the chance to grace the doors of the ard fheis.
Confusing isn’t the word for it. Party leader Micheal Martin was calling for a referendum, now that he’s got it he’s telling us we must vote yes to austerity for eternity. After all, it would be a complete contradiction if the architects of the boom ‘n’ bust called for a no vote, I mean they’ve only become interested in reality when they started losing representatives through lack of votes!
The problem is, lads, you’re emptying the piggy bank and it’s only drizzling — wait until it pours.
I’m referring to the next big handover of billions this month to the unidentified and unguaranteed bond holders. It’s a pity we don’t have a Taoiseach or Tánaiste with the guts of Ian Paisley.
“Never, never, never” would be his reply. I never thought I would find myself in agreement with a sentiment espoused by the said gentleman, theoretically of course.
This leaves Sinn Féin as the only political party ploughing the lonely furrow of rightful opposition. Even if the pull towards the cartridges box becomes a little too strong sometimes, at least it’s only ink. Belief in one’s self only stems from being right in the first place. Which is why Sinn Féin will be campaigning for a no vote.
I believe that people will see through the smokescreen of bureaucratic ‘one-way only’ information supplied by autocratic godfathers and see that the only way to take a stand is to say, ‘No, Nein, Non’.
