Lest we forget

In his recent article (Feb 11), Gerard Howlin writes that “Modern Ireland must have a place for the Catholic Church”.

How right he is. Its place is in a museum — lest we ever forget. Lest we ever forget the oppression, murder, rape and beatings of imprisoned children. Lest we ever forget the dictatorship of our country by J.C. McQuaid. Lest we ever forget the censorship and brainwashing in the guise of education.

The evil legacy of the Catholic Church will haunt us for many generations to come. We should never forget.
