Irish politicians must show some integrity
India’s National Biodiversity Authority, a government agency, is suing Monsanto and their local collaborators for using local varieties of eggplant to develop a genetically modified version.
The biotech giant was recently named the worst company of 2011 by a massive 51% of the readers of Natural Society for “threatening both human health and the environment”. In its usual bullying way, it just went ahead with its experiments, no doubt assuming that the politicrats would lie down.
At a time when a significant part of Ireland’s future depends on our agriculture, and all surveys show that EU consumers do not want GM crops, it is a shame that we have no such integrity in any politicians here.
