Fair play urged in interviews with presidential candidate
During the interview, Ms Davis was repeatedly challenged on her qualifications for her previous role as a director of ICS building society.
Repeatedly she was asked how many days she devoted to her role, how she was qualified in “credit risk management” and would she apologise to all the people in negative equity.
I have no connection with Ms Davis and, as I live in Britain.
Further, I have no entitlement to vote, nor do I much care who is selected to languish in Áras an Uachtaráin.
However, I do like to see fair play in action in all walks of life and I would suggest that the interview was anything but fair.
Ms Davis was not responsible for her selection as an ICS director, and the question of her qualifications should be directed at others and not her. I would suggest, though, that having looked at her CV, she appears sufficiently qualified for the job.
After all, the so-called experts with MBAs and banking and accountancy qualifications seem to have had little better abilities when the question of “credit risk management” cropped up.
From this side of the water, it would appear that Ireland went mad during the Celtic Tiger years — buying and selling houses to each other with ever increasing levels of foreign debt was sure to end in tears.
