I WISH to clear up a few matters for A. Moriarty (Letters, Sept 10) regarding running on the road.

Take care and don’t run your way to an early grave

Running on the road irrespective of “good shoes” is very intense on the leg joints and keeps orthopaedic surgeons and physiotherapists rolling in it.

The “good shoes” dogma has been a standby for those who have taken issue against road running, but is not so clever when people are taken away in an ambulance with their expensive footwear.
