Privatisation running health system into ruin

EVERYONE who has been reading the papers or listening to the radio knows that, as a result of our love-hate relationship with capitalism, our health service is in dire straits in regard to severe cuts being made to the health budget.

Funding is now being sourced through all available means — donations from the public, charity functions etc.

It is beyond comprehension that some of the decisions being made to save money are going to add to the overall running costs long-term.

The spectre of privatisation is continuing to creep into all sectors of our civil service, even though it is being shown all over the world that it creates unequal, divided and unjust societies, leading to civil unrest.

Food for thought would be the riots that erupted throughout socially deprived areas of England, people who are left feeling marginalised by an unequal society, then when an opportunity presents itself, people who may be perfectly respectable, alongside the not-so-respectable, will rampage shoulder-to-shoulder with a vengeance.

In Ireland, is money allocated to health departments disappearing into the black hole of consultants’ fees?

In the event of medical cards being phased out, everyone must arm themselves with medical insurance to cover illness, so don’t listen to waffling in relation to this or relocation of services.
