Get compensation for abuse victims — now

THE topic on abuse seems to be going on endlessly. We all know it happened.

Get compensation for abuse victims — now

We know that under the watch of church and state many of our people suffered. Church and state should stop the sparring match, and agree ways to fund resources for counselling victims and providing pensions to those whose labour and freedom was stolen. If that means selling off church and state properties or land, so be it.

In the past we all had the “fear of God“ instilled into us by preachers from the pulpit. That included democratically-elected government personnel, who would get a tongue lashing if they crossed the Vatican line. We are all victims of victims, but let there be no doubt that the church ruled the roost in old Ireland.

I am neither a royalist nor a church lover, but when Queen Elizabeth is more welcome in Ireland than the Pope, the people have spoken. Find the money.
