End the bonus culture

THE culture of giving bonuses must go within banking and all sectors.

End the bonus culture

We have already have seen how much damage has been done to other sectors during the Celtic Tiger by draining away much-needed funds that could have been used to prop up businesses during the downturn.

Think of the many people who saw their share values plummet, which was added to by paying too much money to the few at the top and forgetting about the little guy at the bottom — the shareholder. This culture must cease immediately and these people must only be rewarded by their wage and nothing else. Remuneration committees should be abolished immediately. The practice of giving a bonus must now be as dead as the Celtic Tiger itself.
