Hospital decision - Time to put children first

An announcement is expected today to declare that the new National Children’s Hospital will be situated near the Mater Hospital in Dublin. But it will not be operational until 2015.

The whole process has taken so long, because it became a political football. Maybe nothing can be done about the past mistakes, but we should learn to ensure that something similar is never allowed to happen again.

Sick children and their parents should have been the first priority in the thinking of responsible politicians, not selfish politics.
