Rousing rebel welcome

CONGRATULATIONS on your coverage of Queen Elizabeth’s history-making visit.

For my money the best picture of all was on page six of the Irish Examiner (May 21). It showed fishmonger Pat O’Connell treating the Queen to some Cork humour during her tour of the English Market. Going by the expression of delight on her face, the joke was much appreciated.

Notwithstanding all the thoroughbred studs she visited, and the wonderful banquet and entertainment laid on for her, the Queen was plainly happiest when she came to Cork.
