There is no getting away from the grim reality that the poor, low paid and others on the fringes of society have been hit by an unfair proportion of budget cuts and adjustments in recent times.

Essentially he argues that in the mid-2000s the Government failed to acknowledge that improved social welfare was merely a “catch-up” for those left behind in the Celtic Tiger boom. Based on the administration’s faulty logic, targeting the poor has since been justified.
