Broadcast goes against scientific knowledge

I NOTICE that the Cork Christian radio station Life FM Cork (93.1 FM) broadcasts a regular slot from an American creationist who invariably makes a point of rejecting scientific evidence for biological evolution and for cosmic evolution.

As a scientist and as a Christian I find this doubly disturbing. Firstly, rejecting the evidence of mainline science and substituting a literal interpretation of certain biblical passages, eg claiming that the earth is only several thousand years old, flies in the face of scientific knowledge that we know for certain.

Secondly, broadcasting this scientific illiteracy over the public airways in the hope of promoting and strengthening Christianity is completely counter productive — it only serves to bring Christianity into disrepute.
