Goodbye to the rogue republic and céad míle fáilte to our new masters

IRELAND must give up its sovereignty now.

Goodbye to the rogue republic and céad míle fáilte to our new masters

It is time for the Irish people finally to face up to what has been blindingly obvious to some for a long time: Ireland Inc is a busted flush.

Ireland is a failed entity, a failed economy, a failed society. We have no economy and no society worthy of the name.

We have become morally, socially and economically bankrupt. But all is not lost. In fact this is a great opportunity for Ireland.

We are fortunate to be surrounded by friendly European states which are among the most advanced and civilised on earth. They want to help us.

Of course you get nothing for nothing in this world, so there will have to be some kind of quid pro quo.

What do we have to offer?

Perhaps use of our ports for military purposes, perhaps access to our vast offshore energy and other resources.

Maybe even living space, badly needed by our overcrowded neighbours. Who knows?

Unpalatable as it may seem at first to some, in order to fix our problems we need to yield sovereignty immediately because we need help immediately.

There is surely little to fear.

We have been effectively ceding independence to Europe since 1973.

We have been doing it incrementally for years. Remember Maastricht... Lisbon?

Remember the famous Lisbon slogan — ‘Vote yes for jobs’? Now is the time to take the plunge and complete the process.

It’s time to admit we can’t cope and give up the old tosh about independence.

Full praise to the heroes of 1916 — in fact they were too good for us. We didn’t deserve them. But they’re gone.

Now we need to look outside Ireland for a new set of heroes. We need to bring in the experts from Europe to do it for us.

For 800 of the past 900 years Ireland has been occupied. It is the norm for us. Independence doesn’t suit us.

We should wave goodbye to the rogue republic. We need to welcome European intervention. The sooner the ‘under new management’ sign goes up over Ireland the better. It’s our only hope.
