The lost generation left behind by technology and betrayed by the politicians

THERE is a group of people in this country, and I am sure in most other countries, who appear to have slipped under the radar with the advance of time.

The lost generation left behind by technology and betrayed by the politicians

I would class them in the late 70s to early 90s age group. They struggled to adapt to the currency change from pounds, shillings and pence through to decimalisation and just as they came to grips with the punt and its smaller denominations, they again had to adjust when we joined the euro. That brought similar problems with converting miles to kilometres, pints to litres and the various other changes which came upon us with EU laws.

Those who could already type had to adapt from manual typewriters to electric versions and from there to word processors. Slowly, more and more were being dropped into the “unable to adapt” category. Then there were TV remote controls and their various functions, digital cameras and mobile phones sweeping away landlines.
