I AM dismayed by Cardinal Brady’s comments relating to the responsibilities of the Catholic Church in the Claudy bombing disaster in 1972. Once again the cardinal displays his inability to rationalise the situation.

The priest at the centre of the debate, Fr James Chesney, should have been interviewed at length.

The Catholic Church should have insisted the law take its course. The transfer of Fr Chesney to Donegal solved nothing and gave him the appearance of being above the law.
