Mass boycott would send signal to church leaders

WHILE the Catholic Church claims that going to mass is a re-enactment of the Last Supper and the paschal mystery, in my eyes there is no valid reason to do so every Sunday.

Mass boycott would send signal to church leaders

From what I read and see, you do not need to go to mass to be a good Christian. You need only to express charity, compassion and kindness in order to show what the Christian religions should be about.

For these reasons I fully support Jennifer Sleeman (Irish Examiner, August 12) and would go further by encouraging all Catholics, men and women, not to go to mass for as long as possible in order to show their disapproval of the Vatican’s actions in relation to child sex abuse.

The affected priests (the huge majority of whom are sincere and honest, no doubt) should then bring this discontentment to the ears of their own bishops, all the way up.

The Catholic religion has been corrupted by its very top officials for many centuries. Vows of charity, poverty and humility have long been forgotten by those who head this organisation.

Can anyone actually show where in the bible it is said that women are second-class human beings? Does it actually say women should not be ordained priests? Does it say anywhere priests should not marry?

Like our government, the Vatican is living in its own restricted world and could not be more out of touch with the people they are actually supposed to serve.
