Hopeless cases

PROMPTED by the case of an extremely stupid bank robber, Prof Dunning of Cornell University and graduate student Justin Kruger wrote a paper on how people at various levels might be too stupid to understand their own stupidity. If that were true, it could have unfortunate consequences for society.

Hopeless cases

A part of their conclusion was that “when people are incompetent in the strategies they adopt to achieve success and satisfaction, they suffer a dual burden: not only do they reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the ability to realise it. Instead they are left with the erroneous impression they are doing just fine”.

Does this remind anybody of some politicians?
