Fair and honest – but will we get the full story?

WELL done to the Irish Examiner for your editorial (April 26) which sets a precedent for Irish journalism, seeking as it does to inform the abortion debate “in a rational, fair and honest way”.

Fair and honest – but will we get the full story?

Can we, your readers, now look forward to front page coverage of stories of women (and men) hurt by abortion and the wonderful healing and counselling that is available to them (eg, via Rachel’s Vineyard); some of those great colour images of 3D scans of the developing life in the womb of a pregnant mother (eg, Just The Facts); the testimony of someone (eg, Gianna Jessen) who survived her mother’s attempt to have her aborted; and perhaps some international statistics concerning the global holocaust that is abortion today, together with an estimate of the number of embryonic lives being lost through the use of abortifacient contraceptive chemicals and mechanical devices and those left over from IVF treatment “discarded as medical waste” (as described in your issue of April 27)? Will this fair and honest information then be followed by a series describing the various methods of abortion and their potentially hazardous side-effects?

Am I expecting too much? Your editorial suggests otherwise. The Truth will set us free.
