Mortgage hike certainly ‘not to our satisfaction’

THIS WEEK I received a notification from permanent tsb that due to a rise in interest rates, my mortgage repayment would be increased from mid-March. The notification was signed off “I trust that the above is to your satisfaction”.

Mortgage hike certainly ‘not to our satisfaction’

I think we should all be prescribed the happy pills they seem to be swallowing. How could they “trust” that it would be to the satisfaction of anyone?

Dare I speak for the rest of the population and say “no, it is not to our satisfaction”. Why aren’t lending institutions happy to get current repayments and not put people under further intolerable pressure. Those with fixed-rate mortgages may say those of us on variable rates were happy to receive interest cuts and enjoy our gains and now must accept our losses, just as I suppose we should be happy to accept our losses in other ways like pay freezes, pay cuts, levies and the like. Are there not enough people desperately trying to make ends meet and keep up to date with mortgage repayments without adding more to the list? Or do the banks enjoy the prospects of repossession? Isn’t it great to be Irish? Roll on St Patrick’s Day and let us celebrate our great nation.
