US President Barack Obama recently hosted a healthcare summit at which he said he reads 10 of the 40,000 letters sent daily from Americans to the White House.

He reads these letters at night in his private quarters. It is one of his ways of keeping in touch with the grassroots.

I wonder how many letters from the public (not his constituents) does Brian Cowen read, in or out of hours?
