Lee voters deserved more from FG

THE selection of George Lee as a candidate was as much about Fine Gael taking the easy option to win the seat by putting up a celebrity vote catcher.

The people who gave Lee the massive vote deserved better from those who selected him. The electorate’s belief would have been that he would be given a role where he could make an significant impact. It seems Richard Bruton was afraid that the new kid on the block would steal his thunder and maybe damage his leadership ambitions so he was literally parked. What we are seeing now is a closing of ranks by Fine in an effort at damage limitation for the shabby way George Lee was treated by them.

Well done, George you were right to quit.
