One more for the political dictionary

TO Shaun Connolly’s list of democracy, kakistocracy kleptocracy, and dumbocracy (Irish Examiner, January 23), I would add phonazocracy — that is to say government by the people who shout the loudest.

A frequent experience in this country on the rare occasion that the Government makes a good decision is the ensuing shouting from the minority or vested interest affected by the decision, leading to a humiliating U-turn.
