Let us trust in God – not in wicked men

HEARING further revelations about child abuse in the Catholic church, it is natural to feel repulsed and wish for justice to be done in relation to the perpetrators.

Let us trust in God – not in wicked men

If these abuses were being carried out in a society of heathendom which denied the existence of God, we would be shocked and disgusted. What makes these crimes purely evil and heinous is the fact that they were carried out by individuals claiming to be the servants of God to whom people went believing they could grant them forgiveness for their sins.

I feel the only way to get peace in the whole affair is to go back to Holy Scripture where God states in Romans chapter 12: “Vengeance is mine, I will repay.” He alone knows the hearts of these beings, and He alone can mete righteous and eternal judgement.

Why should we put our trust in men who, as has been proved beyond shadow of doubt, are deceitful and desperately wicked. Let us put our faith and trust in the one perfect man, the Lord Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave himself for us.
