Laying the blame

I HAVE been reading a lot about who should be taking responsibility for digging us out of this economic catastrophe. Our choices seem to be between the private and public sectors, the TDs, the bankers and sundry others.

There is a simpler solution to hand. We live in a democracy where the right to vote is sacrosanct. But with rights come responsibilities.

I propose that those who were at the helm while the money flowed (where?), and those who put them there, bear the largest burden of responsibility for this financially.

In this computerised age, it should be relatively easy to make a list of card-carrying FF and PD members and tax them separately to the rest of us who did not vote for the Government of the past 10 years and in some cases actively argued against the initiatives that have, to a greater or lesser extent, brought us to this sorry pass.
