Cloyne scandal - Church lets abuse victims down again

WE got another indication yesterday of how divided the Catholic Church in Ireland has become over the Cloyne child abuse scandal.

The Church is split over whether Bishop John Magee should resign over how child abuse allegations were handled in his diocese.

The division is animated by the past resisting the intrusion of the present; traditionalists who have yet to accept or see that an autonomy once tolerable has gone.
