AS a British immigrant, I’ve been well versed on the Irish Famine which, along with the slave trade, is now established as a most shameful part of British history.

Why import food from a nation facing famine?

But why are Irish supermarket shelves filled with runner beans and mange toute from Zimbabwe, a country now facing famine.

Why are we importing food from them, especially since runner beans thrive here at this time of year. Surely, Irish consumers must be lining the pockets of Mr Mugabe, as well as enlarging their own carbon footprint.
