Irish and proud: how to get them fired up

I WAS disappointed to find that neither the Irish flag is flown nor the national anthem played as the Irish rugby team lines out prior to matches in the World Cup.

A certain amount of national pride can spur on a team to greater endeavours on the field.

Depriving the majority of the team of this incentive in order to appease a minority only results in a nett loss to the team.

I’m sure some members on the rugby panel would stand that bit taller and play with that bit more heart were they representing Ireland instead of some falsely weighted balancing act which the IRFU seem eager to promote.
