The Cabinet will reportedly be considering the Aer Lingus-Shannon issue on Wednesday. It is expected that the Government will back the Aer Lingus decision no matter what.

This has prompted people to ask what is the point in holding shares in the company, if the Government believes it should do nothing to protect the national interest when Aer Lingus is trying to take all of its Heathrow slots away from Shannon?
