‘Walk of Fame’ is an idea worth copying

I ENJOYED Ray Fitzgerald’s letter headlined ‘Great bands echo down the years’ (August 8) about the proposed ‘Walk of Fame’ outside the old Arcadia ballroom in Cork.

‘Walk of Fame’ is an idea worth copying

In addition to the bands mentioned, I would argue that the city should include bands that may never have toured Ireland, including the Art Mooney Orchestra whose biggest hit was ‘I’m Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover’ back in 1948. Mooney shared honours with the Blue Barron band on ‘Cruising Down the River’. Both bands merit a memorial footprint. It’s great to see good music is still appreciated around the world. We in the US would do well to copy the Cork idea since we have such a diverse array of great bands and musicians.
