SOME within Fianna Fáil have questioned the suggestion that Beverly Flynn will be re-admitted to the party after she supported Bertie Ahern in the election for taoiseach last week.

She was expelled from the party in 2004 after losing a libel action against RTÉ over reports that she helped customers of the National Irish Bank to evade tax.

Tom Flynn, the Independent TD from Kerry South, was readmitted to the Fianna Fáil party in 1951 after he provided vital support in the election of Eamon de Valera as taoiseach, so there is a precedent for readmission. This will be is a matter for the Fianna Fáil Party itself.
