New terminal is no protection against rainy day
Perhaps he would like to elaborate on some other important matters on which the Cork Airport Authority has been all too quiet:
1. The debt issue, which still has not been clarified.
2. The sole airbridge being out of service for some time.
3. Lack of a covered walkway or buses to take passengers from the terminal building to aircraft parked at distant stands. In wet weather, passengers are still soaked going to or coming from aircraft.
4. The trend towards reduced services with the loss of Czech Airlines from Prague, easyJet from London Gatwick, BA Loganair from Glasgow, BMI Baby from Durham Tees Valley, BMI Regional from Leeds Bradford, Ryanair reductions from Gatwick and Stansted.
5. Business jets forced to park overnight in Shannon and Kerry.
I would be pleased to hear Mr Cullinane’s comments on these matters, and particularly on what efforts the CAA is making to secure new business as well as retaining existing services.
At the rate of loss over the past few months, the CAA’s target of three million passengers annually might be difficult to achieve, even with the few additional routes announced recently
