The Taoiseach has urged hotels and other businesses in the hospitality industry not to hike prices ahead of the Oasis reunion gigs in Dublin.

The Manchester rockers announced a 2025 Ireland and Britain tour, with two nights in Croke Park on August 16 and 17.

Tens of thousands of fans will be bracing themselves to snap up the coveted tickets, which go on sale on Saturday at 8am.

Within minutes of the band confirming the Oasis Live 25 tour, hotel rooms in the city were selling out, with the remaining availability costing more than €500 for one night.

On some travel websites, 98% of places to stay were unavailable for that weekend in August.

Responding to concerns about price gouging by hotels, Simon Harris said the practice did not help anyone.

"It ends up giving our city and our country a bad reputation," he said.

"It is much more in the interest, I believe, of hoteliers and others to act responsibly in relation to this.

"Let people come to Dublin and have a good time and then say 'I want to go back again'."
