More than 760 drivers were detected speeding on the first day of An Garda Síochána's bank holiday road safety operation, with one motorist caught travelling at 114km/h in a 60km/h zone in Dublin.

The nationwide enforcement operation began on Thursday morning and will continue until Tuesday morning.
