Broadcaster Niall Boylan to run for Independent Ireland in EU elections

Broadcaster Niall Boylan is set to contest the upcoming European elections in Dublin for the Independent Ireland party.
His candidacy for the party, which is led by Cork South West TD Michael Collins, was confirmed by the Dublin County Returning Officer.
Mr Boylan, who hosts the programme on Classic Hits FM alongside his own , joins former RTÉ broadcaster Ciaran Mullooly as a candidate for Independent Ireland in the upcoming European Parliament elections.
Independent Ireland was set up by Mr Collins and Limerick TD Richard O’Donoghue last November, with the party recruiting candidates to run in both the local and European elections in recent months.
More recently, the party expanded their representation at Dáil Éireann with Roscommon-Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice joining in February.
A number of other candidates are now registered with the Dublin County Returning Officer, including Independent MEP Clare Daly, Labour TD Aodhán Ó Ríordáin and People Before Profit TD Bríd Smith.
Regina Doherty is contesting the election for Fine Gael, while Fianna Fáil’s candidate is sitting MEP Barry Andrews. The Social Democrats have selected the former head of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC), Sinéad Gibney, to run for the party in Dublin.
The Green Party is running incumbent MEP Ciarán Cuffe, while Sinn Féin has both Senator Lynn Boylan and Cllr Daithí Doolan on the ticket.
