Four men die in separate collisions on the country's roads this weekend

Four men have lost their lives in three separate collisions on the country's roads this weekend.
The crashes occurred in counties Cork, Limerick, Donegal, and Kildare on Saturday and Sunday.
In Cork, a man in his 30s, died following a collision between a jeep and a motorcycle. The crash happened on the N20 at Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, at around 8pm.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where an autopsy will take place.
A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support his family, and the coroner has been notified.
The driver of the jeep, a man aged in his 80s, was also taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The road is currently closed, and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N20 near Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork between 7:15pm and 8:00pm on Saturday 4th July 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station on (022) 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
In Dublin, a motorcyclist was tragically killed at a race event on Sunday morning.
The competitor died following an accident during a race he was taking part in at the Skerries 100.
A statement issued on behalf of Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club this afternoon, says: "The Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club, organisers of the Skerries 100, regret to announce, a competitor has sadly passed away following a tragic accident that occurred during a Race which took place today.
Further information will be released as soon as next of kin has been informed."
Meanwhile in Donegal, gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a collision at Kinnego Cross, Ballymagan shortly before 9.10pm.
The crash involved two cars, and the driver of one, a man aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was taken to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital where an autopsy will be carried out.
A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the man's family, and the coroner has been notified.
A passenger in the same car, a man aged in his 20s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Two teenagers from the second car were also taken to the same hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The road is currently closed pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
"Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling near Kinnego Cross, Ballymagan, Co. Donegal between 8:30pm and 9:15pm on Saturday 4th July 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station on (074) 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station," a statement said.
In Kildare, another motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, died in a single-vehicle crash around 10.45am at Killick, Kilcock.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital where an autopsy will be carried out. The coroner has been notified.
The road was closed for a technical examination, but has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in Killick, Kilcock, Co Kildare between 10.30am and 11am on Saturday are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
