Cork City and other more eastern areas of the province look likely to be spared from the elements. File picture
Met Éireann has forecast thunderstorms for Limerick and Clare, issuing a status yellow warning for the two counties. The warning is expected to be in place until around 7pm on Tuesday evening.
The forecaster is predicting "frequent lightning" and "spot flooding" in these areas, while western parts of Munster should expect heavy rainfall this afternoon. Cork City and other more eastern areas of the province look likely to be spared from the elements.
It comes as high pressure is set to bring dry, settled conditions for the latter half of this week, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the low 20s.
Wednesday will see highs of 25C but there will be showers in parts of Munster and south Connacht through the afternoon and evening. The showers will clear on Wednesday night leaving clear skies.Â
Warm and sunny conditions will set in on Thursday with highs of 18C to 22C and sunshine that will turn a little hazy at times. Friday will be another dry and largely sunny day with temperatures hitting 17C to 21C.Â
This weekend will be more of the same with highest temperatures generally of 17C to 22C or 23C.Â
Current indications suggest that it will stay settled and warm for the early days of next week with temperatures in the high teens or low 20s, Met Éireann said.
