Man, 50s, dies following hit-and-run in Limerick

A man in his 50s has died following a hit-and-run incident in Limerick City on Tuesday.
The man, a pedestrian, was struck by a vehicle on the Ennis Rd shortly before 2pm.
The car involved — a maroon-coloured Ford Focus — failed to remain at the scene.
It was later recovered.
The Ennis Rd is currently closed pending an examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested in connection to the incident. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Garda station in the Southern Region.
Anyone with any information on the movements of the Ford Focus around the time of the incident is asked to come forward, and any road users who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision have been asked to contact investigating gardaí.
