Road death toll for 2024 hits 100 as woman dies in Waterford collision
Garda at the scene of on the M50 after two military trucks collided with a car on the northbound carriageway on the outskirts of Dublin at around 10.50am.
The death toll on Irish roads has hit 100 after a woman in Waterford died in a two-car collision on Tuesday.
The collision, involving a truck and a car, occurred on the N25 at Garranbane near Dungarvan at 9.20am.
The driver of the car, a woman in her 70s, was treated by emergency services at the scene but passed away from her injuries.
The male driver of the truck was taken to Waterford University Hospital where he is receiving treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
The road remains closed with an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators currently under way. Local diversions remain in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time of the collision are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
