Gardaí renew appeal to help identify Cork skeletal remains
The nightdress discovered at the scene where skeletal remains were found on a section of the Midleton to Youghal Greenway.
Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal to the public for information on the identity of skeletal remains found at a construction site in Cork in January 2021.
The remains were discovered along the Midleton to Youghal Greenway on January 5, 2021, and were believed to belong to a female, who was over 70 years of age at the time of death.

A white nightdress garment was also recovered during the search.
Forensic examinations also suggest that the woman was between 5’ to 5’ 2” in height, large framed, wore dentures, and suffered from arthritis.
Despite this information, DNA samples compared against the National DNA Database have been unable to find a positive match.
Examinations of missing person’s records have also not identified any potential matches at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and further scientific resources, including Carbon dating, have been engaged as part of the investigation.
An Garda Síochána is appealing to the public for any information, no matter how small, they might have to come forward.
They have appealed to the community for information on how the remains came to be at the locally known "tipping point", just off the Shanty Path at Roxborough, Midleton, Co Cork.
"An Garda Síochána are determined to formally identify the deceased and treat her with the respect and dignity that she deserves," a Garda spokesperson said.
"An Garda Síochána want to ensure that the remains are brought to a final resting place,"
Any person with information can contact investigating Gardaí at the incident room at Midleton Garda Station 021 – 4621550, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda Station.
