Two people have been arrested after gardaí seized a bladed weapon and high‑powered e‑scooters during an operation in Dublin.

Gardaí from community policing, supported by the National Roads Policing Unit, carried out a targeted day of action on Wednesday focusing on the enforcement of motorcycles, electric motorbikes, quad bikes, mopeds, and powered personal transporters.

As part of Operation Meacán, gardaí from Bridewell station on Chancery St in the city responded to a series of dangerous driving incidents in the Dublin 7 area.

A Garda spokesperson said two high‑powered electric scooters and a bladed weapon were seized during the operation.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested under public order legislation and has since been charged. He is expected to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Thursday morning.

"A juvenile male, aged in his teens, who was arrested has since been released without charge pending referral to the National Youth Diversion Programme," added the spokesperson.

Investigations are ongoing.

Operation Meacán targets the use of electric vehicles — including e‑motorcycles — that gardaí say are being used in criminal activity such as drug dealing, money laundering, transporting firearms, drug‑related intimidation, and other serious offences.
