Vehicles and €218k in cash seized in CAB operation targeting Munster-based crime group

Twenty-seven vehicles, €218,000 in cash and designer goods and electrical devices have been seized in a major Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) operation targeting a Munster-based crime group.
The CAB raids, which involved 150 law enforcement personnel, took place at 20 different locations in Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Dublin and Mayo on Thursday morning.
Gardaí and CAB officials said the group targeted is involved in laundering the proceeds of organised criminality through "the second hand motor trade, real estate purchases, property developments, and the purchase of high value goods".
During the course of the raids, more than €218,000 in cash was seized along 27 vehicles, five jet-skis, two rigid inflatable boats and six Rolex watches. Louis Vuitton handbags were also seized, along with a number of electrical devices and assorted financial documentation.
150 Gardaí and colleagues in the Criminal Assets Bureau carried out extensive searches today in Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Dublin and Mayo.

A quantity of suspected of cocaine was also seized. One person was also arrested in connection with the seizure of a quantity of suspected cocaine at one of the CAB search locations.
The individual is currently being detained at a Limerick city Garda station, a garda spokesperson said.
"Today's operation marks a significant developments in CAB's ongoing proceeds of crime investigation," the spokesperson added.
