Cork traffic and weather: Sunny spells and showers expected

There will be sunny spells and scattered showers in Cork and across Munster this Thursday.

Temperatures are expected to hover around 15 to 17 degrees, in moderate to fresh and gusty winds.

According to Met Éireann, the showers will be more frequent in the morning and early afternoon, and will become isolated in the evening.

Traffic

There are reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the N40 South Ring Road between Junction 5 Togher and Junction 4 Sarsfield Road, in Cork. Care should be taken on approach.

However, TII Traffic say there are currently no delays on routes around Cork. 

National outlook

The weather will become drier and more settled as high pressure builds.

This Friday will be mostly cloudy, but largely dry at first. Outbreaks of rain are to be expected through the morning with mist and hill fog. According to the forecaster, the rain will become patchier in the afternoon and will clear to showers in the north and west in the evening. 

Highest temperatures will be between 15 to 18 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds, stronger for exposed coasts.

There will be rain, drizzle and mist on Saturday morning, and a mix of sunny spells and well scattered showers throughout the rest of the day. Highest temperatures will be from 15 degrees in the northwest to 20 degrees in the southeast, all in moderate to fresh westerly winds, stronger in the northwest.
