Cork weather and traffic: Heavy rain to dominate morning

Heavy rain is forecast for much of Friday morning before it starts to ease later in the afternoon, bringing some drier and possibly brighter spells. 

Highs of 15C to 18C are in store for the day before light rain and drizzle take over the evening. 

It will become mainly dry on Friday night, as clearance extends southwards. It will be mild with temperatures not falling below 13C. 

Saturday will be a mainly dry day, with some bright or sunny spells. There will be just a few isolated showers around. Highs of up to 20C are expected in the southeast. 

Dry weather will continue on Saturday night with clear spells and just a few showers. However, temperatures will reach as low as 8C. 

Traffic 

Parts of College Road remain closed on Friday, alongside the Gaol Walk, where traffic has been diverted for several weeks. 

The city centre is starting to see traffic build up alongside the quays, and the N28 near Shanbally is also seeing some congestion. 

Outlook

Sunday will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, although a few stray showers will occur, mainly in the north and west. Highs of 14C to 18C are expected. 

Looking into next week, Monday will be mild and rather cloudy with just some bright or sunny spells developing. While a good deal of dry weather is expected, rain and drizzle will also occur. Highs of up to 21C are in store as well.
