Man arrested following discharge of firearm at residence in Galway

A man has been arrested after a firearm was discharged at a residence in Galway in the early hours of Monday morning. 

Gardaí had previously said a man in his 20s had been taken to the hospital following the incident at a property at Dunlo in Ballinasloe at approximately 3.15am on Monday. 

His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

In an update on Wednesday morning, gardaí said a man in his 20s has been arrested in relation to the incident. 

He is currently being detained at a garda station in the North Western Region under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

"Investigations are ongoing," a garda spokesperson said.
