Two arrested as revenue seizes €11.5m worth of cocaine and cannabis at Dublin Port

A man and a woman have been arrested after Revenue officers seized illicit drugs worth an estimated €11.5m during a series of operations at Dublin Port last week.

The pair remain in custody at a Garda station in Dublin.

On Friday, officers seized 24.5kg of cocaine worth more than €1.7m. The Class A drug was discovered using a detector dog and a mobile X-ray scanner during a search of a refrigerated container that had arrived from Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

On Saturday, around 392kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €7.84m, was seized as part of an intelligence-led operation involving Revenue's Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

A day later, Revenue officers seized approximately 80.5kg of herbal cannabis and 5kg of cocaine, with a combined estimated value of €1.95m. Officers also recovered €143,900 in cash.

The drugs were again detected using detector dogs and X-ray scanners during a search of a truck and trailer that had arrived from Cherbourg, France.

Investigations into all three seizures are ongoing.
