Mixed weather conditions expected ahead of August bank holiday weekend

A mixed bag of weather conditions is set to dominate the country this week, as Met Éireann says rain, dry conditions and humidity will take over. 

While most of the rainfall will be seen across the west and north, drier conditions will persist further south and east. 

Monday morning saw cloud, light rain and drizzle dominate Connacht and Ulster. 

Other parts of the country will remain largely dry with some brighter intervals as well. It will be humid with highs of 16C to 23C expected.

It will be mild and humid later on Monday night with rain in the north and west of the country, whilst elsewhere it will remain dry. 

Lows of 14C to 18C are expected for the night. 

Tuesday will be a generally warm and humid day with the best of the sunny spells away from the northwest as rain and drizzle persist there. 

Dry weather will dominate elsewhere with highs of 17C to 24C expected.

It will be cloudy in the north and west with outbreaks of rain becoming more persistent later in the night and towards the morning. It will stay mostly dry elsewhere with a mix of cloud and clear spells.

Wednesday will start off generally cloudy with outbreaks of rain in the north and west, slowly clearing southeastwards through the day with sunny spells and drier conditions following. Highs of 17C to 24C are expected, and it will be warmest in the south and east. 

It will then stay dry and clear on Wednesday night with few light showers affecting Atlantic coastal areas. 

Thursday will then feel fresher than previous days with a mix of sunny spells and showers. It will be heaviest and most persistent further north, with highs of 15C to 21c. 

Friday will be a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, with the driest conditions further south. Highs of 16C to 22C are expected. 

Looking into the bank holiday weekend, current indications suggest Saturday and Sunday will be mostly dry with a few showers on Monday and temperatures in the high teens or low twenties generally.
