A man arrested over the fatal shooting of a man in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin, has been released without charge.

The shooting took place at Patrician Park, Kill Avenue at around 8.30am on Sunday.

A man, named locally as 39-year-old Mark Cullen, was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, a man aged in his 30s was arrested by gardaí and detained at a Garda station in the Dublin area under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

On Wednesday, gardaí said he had been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A Garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
