Man, 30s, in critical condition following late-night assault in Dublin city centre

A man is in critical condition in hospital following a serious assault in Dublin city.

The incident occurred on Foley St, Dublin 1, at approximately 11.40pm on Monday, July 6.

The man, aged in his 30s, was taken to The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital at 2am to be treated for serious injuries.

He remains in a critical condition.

A man, aged in his 30s, has since been arrested and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Foley St, Talbot St, or James Joyce St between 11.30pm and 2am on the night of Monday, July 6,  and who may have camera footage,  including dashcam, is asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.

Investigations are ongoing.
