Sunny spells and dry weather set for Bank Holiday Monday

Dry weather and sunny spells are set for the Bank Holiday Monday as Met Éireann says highs of 12C to 15C are expected.

The national forecaster says the week will see some settled weather, but it will be cooler for this time of year. 

The day started mostly cloudy and dry with some patches of drizzle in the southwest. Sunny spells will come in later in the afternoon and evening, but it will stay rather cloudy with some showers in the south and southwest.

Monday night will start mainly dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells. Scattered showers will stay in the north and west with lows of 3C to 7C. 

Tuesday morning will remain mainly cloudy with showers in the north and west. However, they will start to move southwards through the day before drier weather and sunny spells come in. Daytime highs will sit between 11C and 14C.

Clear, mostly dry and cooler weather will dominate Tuesday night with some mist patches and a weak breeze. Temperatures are set to fall as low as 2C.

Wednesday will be a bright and mostly dry start, but it will turn a little more cloudy later in the morning. A few showers will pop up in the afternoon across the eastern counties, while the rest of the county stays dry. Daytime highs will stay between 11C and 13C. 

Showers should clear away on Wednesday night, but it will remain cloudy with lows of 3C to 6C. 

Looking into Thursday, it should be dry but cloudy. However, rain will start to fall in the west later in the morning before it spreads east across the country during the afternoon and evening. 

Friday then could be a more unsettled day with more cloud and showers in the afternoon. Daytime highs will stay between 9C and 12C.
