Pedestrian, 80s, dies following crash involving car in Co Longford

A pedestrian has died following a collision involving a car on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened on Earl Street in Co. Longford at around 10am.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. 

He was pronounced dead on Tuesday evening. An autopsy will take place in due course. 

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 9.45am and 10.15am on Tuesday April 28 2026 are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
